Windward: The
windward side of the island gets the most rain, which accounts for its famous
tropical environs of swaying palms, colorful plants and soft breezes. Communities
range from sleepy old fashioned beach towns to lively young suburbs. Homes
include single family residences, townhouses, condos and apartments. You
can find a setting that's just right for the way you live!
Kailua: Kailua is the largest community on the Windward side and boasts
one of the world's most beautiful shorelines. Known for moderately priced
neighborhoods, Kailua also features restaurants, parks, libraries, schools
and shopping centers.
Waimanalo: Waimanalo has the largest Hawaiian population in Windward
Oahu and it is reflected in the relaxed lifestyle and affordable housing
of this neighborhood. You won't find a beach to steal your heart as will
the white sands of Waimanalo set against the verdant Koolau Mountains.
Kaneohe: In Kaneohe, you will find moderately priced homes, townhouses,
condos and apartments. Marine Corps Base Hawaii and Windward Community
College are in this area. The lifestyle is young and lively.
Lanikai: Lanikai was first developed in the 1920s by developers who recognized
prime beachfront properties were enhanced by the views of two beautiful
islands of Moku Nui and Moku Iki. The lifestyle is affluent and the community
continues to live up to its name, "Sea Heaven."
Kaaawa: The famous crouching lion rock formation and the Crouching Lion
Inn are Kaaawa's famous landmarks along the Kamehameha Highway. Homes
range from affordable prices and higher.
Hauula: Hauula features affordable single-family residences and condos,
with beach pavilions and beach parks along the shore, with dramatic mountains
along the other side of the highway.
North Shore: Oahu's North Shore features some of the most incredible
scenery in the world -- luxuriantly green land, a brilliantly blue ocean,
luminous beaches edged with tropical foliage and the best surfing in
the world. Tranquil summers give way to monster waves adored by surfers
during surf season. The North Shore is pricey and has its own indulgent
lifestyle, which is greatly beloved by residents and visitors alike.
Leeward: Far west Oahu is nestled between the dry, craggy Waianae Mountains
and the ocean, a location chosen by the first Hawaiians seeking shelter
here a thousand years ago. Single family homes, condos and apartments
are affordable, although incredible ocean views command top prices. Golf
courses, comfortable lifestyles and local legends are part and parcel
of this area.
Honolulu: Downtown Honolulu is one of America 's loveliest and most compact
cities. You can find almost any lifestyle or price range you want in
the communities of Moanalua, Salt Lake, Kalihi, Palama, Nuuanu, the Punchbowl
and Pacific Heights, to name a few well-known neighborhoods. All are
located within 10 minutes from downtown.

shops and entertainment establishments line the world's most famous beach

Diamond Head: Diamond Head is Oahu 's most famous natural landmark, where
